Fletcher Alford - Director

Fletcher Alford is a member of Dentons' Litigation and Arbitration Practice.  He focuses on commercial litigation and the defense of class actions along with other complex matters in both trial and appellate courts, with an emphasis on claims involving financial services, product liability, consumer fraud, breach of contract and unfair business practices.  Fletcher has extensive trial and appellate experience and handles complex cases before state and federal courts, including the US Supreme Court.  Previously, he served as a law clerk for the Hon. Judge Anthony Alaimo of the US District Court.

 

Fletcher and his cases have been profiled in numerous publications, including the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Daily Journal and Who's Who in American Law.

Reg Barrett - Vice President

Reginald Barrett is a Goertz Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Management at the University of California, Berkeley. He has a B.S. in Game Management from Humboldt State College, a M.S. in Wildlife Management from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of CA, Berkeley.  Reg has been involved with the development and testing of the California Wildlife Habitat Relationships System and represented the University on the California Interagency Wildlife Task Group from 1980-2000. Results of this work are now being used by the forest industry and state resource agencies in producing sustained yield plans. Topics of interest include land use planning, landscape ecology, conservation biology and vertebrate population ecology as they relate to the problem of predicting the responses of wildlife to human activities, especially on forest and rangelands.

Andy Wood-President

Andrew J. Wood is a small business owner in Northern California with a staff of twenty five employees. North Valley Building Systems, Inc. is a full service, concrete and building contractor specializing in Pre-engineered Steel Structures, tilt-up concrete structures with a steel truss roof system and conventional construction projects.

Andy is a life-long outdoorsman and has hunted in many countries for a wide variety of species. He has made many contributions in both time and money to wildlife conservation and is a life member of Safari Club International, NRA, North American Hunting Club and the California Deer Association.  In his capacity as CDA Project Chairman, he worked closely with US Forest Service, Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Bureau of Land Management on projects to improve California deer and wildlife.

He is committed to improving the habitat of California and educating the public on this valuable resource. 

Bill Gaines - Director

Bill Gaines is the President of Gaines & Associates Government Relations, Sacramento, CA.   His extensive experience, excellent track record and well-known name in public policy compelled him to establish his own private Government Relations focused on wildlife management and environmental policy.  In business only a few short months, Gaines & Associates is already representing an impressive array of clients.  Bill has previously served as the President of the CA Outdoor Herritage Alliance and the Director of Govenment Affairs for the CA Waterfowl Association.  He was awarded "2013 Californian of The Year" for his continual dedication and outstanding performance in helping preserve California's wildlife resource and our hunting heritage.

Jan Bray - Secretary/Treasurer

Jan Bray, Jackson CA – Graduate of Humboldt State University and CA Registered Professional Forester #2360, Certified Professional in Erosion & Soil Control (CPESC #1095) and retired Peace Officer. Jan worked for the U.S. Forest Service and the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection, having retired from public service in 2012. Jan’s passion includes faith events and family activities, especially camping, fishing, mission trips and traveling. She volunteers time with children in the Foster Care System, with the A-PAL Humane Society, and with the Amador Calaveras Consensus Group and multiple Fire Safe Councils.

Mark Connolly - Director

Mark Connolly is practicing lawyer and a member of the CA Bar Association.  He has over 23 years of experience practicing law in CA and his office is based in Tracy, CA.  Mark is an experienced trial attorney specializing in civil litigation.  He is 6th generation rancher operating a cattle production program on his ranch that spans Alameda and San Joaquin Counties.  Mark is also the current president of the Alameda County Resource Conservation District (RCD).  

Ken Mayer - Director

Kenneth Mayer- Board Member-- Founder and CEO of K.E. Mayer & Associates, a company specializing in wildlife management and environmental science. Prior to establishing K.E. Mayer & Associates, Ken served seven years as Director of the Nevada Department of Wildlife, member of the Nevada Governors Cabinet and member of the Nevada Environmental Commission.  Prior to becoming Director, Ken served for 25 years with the California Department of Fish and Game (now called California Department of Fish and Wildlife), where he held positions as the Statewide Deer Management Coordinator, Coastal Region Field Supervisor, and Chief Scientist, Office of Spill Prevention and Response. Much of Ken’s professional time is now being taken up as a contract scientist with the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) focusing on the management and conservation of Greater sage-grouse. Ken currently serves as the WAFWA Fire and Invasive Initiative Coordinator. Mr. Mayer brings to The CalFauna’s Board a lifetime’s worth of professional wildlife management and administrative experience.  Ken holds BS and MS degrees from Humboldt State University in Natural Resource Management and has received many state and national awards for excellence in the management and conservation of wildlife. Ken resides in Sparks, NV.
